SMOKESTRIDE - WINDCLAN

Smokestride has always been a determined cat. He shared an apprenticeship with four others and developed a competitive side to him. He has always been a poor loser, though, and he took it harshly if he failed. This only contributed to his competitive nature. If another apprentice proved better than him he was only striven to do better next time. Around his friends he is a very easy-going cat. He can be a little bit touchy when it comes to his pride but he gets over things quickly.

He is extremely loyal to his clan. At Gatherings he will defend his clan with a sharp tongue if anyone calls their strength into question. He guards those he loves with the same ferocity. He has a strong bond with his sister and will often annoy her by going out of his way to protect her. Smokestride tends to get restless often and prefers to keep himself busy with patrols and hunting.


Smokestride was born in a bitter leaf-bare. He had two siblings, a she-cat and another tom. His brother was Stonekit and his sister Rainkit. In their first moon there was an outbreak of greencough. Stonekit caught the infection and was soon in the paws of StarClan. His parents Gorsestripe and Whiteflower were distraught, but his mother was determined not to lose her remaining kits. When newleaf arrived everyone was relieved. Smokekit and Rainkit were thrilled to finally know what warm weather was like.

Before they knew it greenleaf had come and they were being made into apprentices. Smokepaw was excited and confident when he was apprenticed but Rainpaw looked ready to faint from nerves. His mentor was the stern Redtail, but he trained him well. Smokepaw was one of five apprentices for most of his training and from day one he was competing with them. Redtail was not always one to bestow praise but Smokepaw managed to get a few compliments out of him during their training period. 

Smokepaw and his sister were made full warriors near the end of leaf-bare. Rainclaw was named for her fierce battle moves while Smokestride was named for his superior speed. It was clear he was one of the swiftest cats in WindClan. During the same ceremony Redtail took his leave from the warriors and joined the elders, joking that training Smokestride had added years to his body. He shared the silent night vigil with his sister. Despite the cold leafbare snow, pride kept he and his sister warm that night,

They have both been warriors for just over a year since then. Smokestride has proved to be a skilled rabbit hunter with his long legs, though also a fierce warrior. He has not yet taken a mate for his own, nor has he had the opportunity to train an apprentice. Both things, however, he hopes to achieve soon.
