It was a warm Newleaf day. Though some reminders of Leafbare still clung to the land and air around them, the world was making it sufficiently apparent that it was ready to warm up. The small, thin-pelted she-cat was more than ready for that. She loved swimming, but swimming in the cold? Well, it wasn't that great. And to mark their borders and go to Sunningrocks, the RiverClan cats had to cross the river every day. Their medicine cat said that thanks to their diet of fish, their sleek fur kept out the cold of the river better than other cats; which was why they normally didn't catch a chill. Despite this, Minnowstream still dreaded the swim in the cold moons. But today, a swim wouldn't be so bad. It was afternoon, and she'd already been on a hunting and border patrol. She wasn't scheduled for anymore patrols today, so she figured she could take it easy. She placed one paw tentatively in the water. It was still cold, but not so bad with the warm air. She dove in, paddling strongly, until she reached the other side. Once she did, she shook her fur out. feeling it dry quickly in the warm air.
She struck off toward Sunningrocks, reaching them quickly and spreading herself out on them. She felt a purr rising in her chest as she laid her head down and closed her eyes. RiverClan and ThunderClan had often fought over this area in the past, but ThunderClan had not tried to lay claim to it since she was just a small kit. The tip of tail moved back and forth, showing that she she-cat would not be content to just lay on the rocks for too long. She had visited the nursery again today. The queens were still upset over their missing kits, and she understood. She did all she could to comfort them, but there was little comfort for them to have at the moment.
